Hi Alwyn – I think this calls for a video. Give me a few days to put one together and I’ll try to answer all your questions, as well as cover other tips about good website layout.

Hi Alwyn et al – just a quick note to let you know that I haven’t had a chance to put together the video yet (very busy last week), but will do so sometime this week.

Hi guys – new video is up. It’s called “How to Build a Website That Converts”:

Okay, guys – I’ve uploaded a sample project description to this page:

http://www.nichesherpa.com/members-home/step-by-step-pdfs/sample-project-description-to-use-on-freelance-site-hiring-an-interviewer

Hi Moe,
Great example. I wonder if I could clarify –

  • What sort of response did you get to the proposal?
  • How successful was the result?
  • What did it end up costing?

I really would like to know what to budget for different projects. I realize this is like asking “how long is a piece of string”, but given I have limited funds, I want to know how much I have to do myself.

Hi Kim – great questions. Here are my answers:

– I had a lot of people respond to this proposal, but because my requirement was so specific (i.e. find and interview goat farmers), only a couple of the bidders were qualified.

– Believe it or not, one of the people who bid on this project was an agricultural journalist (and she bid on my project through Scriptlance.com, which is filled with techie freelancers!). So the project turned out really well – because I found an excellent freelancer.

– I just checked my Scriptlance.com account to confirm the cost. It cost me $100. (Note: that’s a VERY low price. Finding a qualified freelancer who is willing to find and interview half a dozen people in a micro-niche would usually cost more like $300 – $500, or even more).

Hope that helps,

Moe
