Post Your niche's language

What do you mean exactly when you say that we must understand our niche’s language ? Some niches (based on specific needs) can involve many different kinds of people who use different language based not just on their demographics but on where they live in the world. I ask this because the niche I am considering is based on a specific need and my audience is of all ages, backgrounds and worldwide.

Thanks Moe, Alwyn

What I mean is this: are there are specific words/terms/phrases that your audience uses?

For example: many IMers know what a “squeeze page” is. But if I used that term in conversation with my non-IM friends, they’d say “squeeze what?”

You need to know the language of your audience so you can make an emotional connection with them (in your ad copy, website content, etc). If you don’t “get” the language they use, they’ll be able to tell that you’re an outsider – and you won’t gain their trust.

Ok, compren-day, thanks Moe.

It just dawned on me that we are concerned with the language of the niche itself (say back pain) and not of the audience members.

I have a perfect example to illustrate this very point,

“You need to know the language of your audience so you can make an emotional connection with them (in your ad copy, website content, etc). If you don’t “get” the language they use, they’ll be able to tell that you’re an outsider – and you won’t gain their trust.”

I just got an auto email from Starak about a ‘product launch formula’ that I guess he has as an affiliate and I went to have a look at the presentation. Well, within seconds of hearing the guys voice and the ‘language’ that he was using to promote his product, I switched off instantly and stopped the video only 50 secs into his spiel. He never even had a chance of making a connection with me but had he known ME and the language that I respond to then he would have had a much better chance at a conversion. Ha !

Exactly!

Great example, Alwyn.
